How Does a Ductless Mini-Split System Work?

Ductless systems have two main components:

A heat pump
Air handling units (aka “heads” or “evaporators”)

The heat pump sends heated or cooled refrigerant, depending on the season, to the wall or ceiling mounted air handling units through refrigerant lines. The air handling unit uses the refrigerant to heat or cool the air and circulate it throughout its dedicated zone.

Single or Multi-Zone Systems

A ductless heating & cooling system can treat a single zone, like a porch, attic, garage, or it can have multiple air handling units throughout the home. Different zones can be set to different temperatures based on your preferences.
